Banskobystrický triptych s Klaňaním troch kráľov
[Triptych of Adoration of the Kings from Banská Bystrica]

(Summary)

The study informs on the altarpiece, which is in the art historian literature unknown until now. This altarpiece comes from the property of the Banská Bystrica (Besztercebánya, Neusohl, Slovakia) bishopric. It is a small dimensional movable altarpiece consisting of three panels. The scene of Adoration of the Kings is on the central panel of the altar, the scene of Annunciation of the Virgin Mary is on the right panel and the scene of Adoration on the left one. The backside of the altar is not painted. Based on the critical analysis of the style the author of this study attributes the altar to the workshop of the Antwerpian mannerist - Master of 1518.

It is assumed that the altarpiece was bought and brought to Slovakia by the Thurzo - Fuggers Copper Company.
